After a ₦10.3 million ransom was paid in Rivers, police rescued the kidnaped victim and arrested the suspects.

The Rivers State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected kidnappers in Port Harcourt, confirming their involvement in a six-member syndicate that kidnapped a woman outside Fidelity Bank.

The victim was held for three days until a ransom of N10.3 million was paid by her family. Command spokesperson Blessing Agabe reported that the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) acted on a distress call, leading to an operation at a waterfront hideout where the suspects were detained.

The suspects, Victor Ifeanyi, 24, and Aniekan Okon Michael, 36, confessed to their involvement in the abduction, revealing the gang’s composition and their use of a white mini-bus during the crime. The police are actively pursuing the remaining members of the syndicate. Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju has urged the public to assist law enforcement by providing credible tips, assuring confidentiality and emphasizing ongoing intelligence-led operations to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities in Rivers State.
