Applicants will retain a standard administrative fee of £20. This decision comes after numerous complaints regarding the fees and challenges faced by Nigerians during the intervention exercise, which has now been extended to October 3 due to a high volume of applicants in London and Manchester.

On September 8, the Nigerian Federal Government clarified that no additional charges beyond the official passport fees had been introduced for this exercise, and this was supported by the Interior Ministry and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). The NIS reiterated that only the necessary passport fees, excluding bank charges, were applicable. By September 11, it was confirmed that participation in the exercise did not incur additional fees.

In the first four days of the intervention, 1,477 Nigerians were processed, with many passports already produced and dispatched. However, reports indicated that technical issues at the Manchester intervention centre led to delays, causing further frustration among applicants concerning both fees and procedural clarity. The situation emphasizes the need for improved communication and efficiency during vital administrative processes for Nigerians abroad.
