Adeola Adelabu, the minister’s media assistant, revealed the meeting in a statement on Wednesday.

“In furtherance of the Federal Government’s commitment to deliver reliable electricity to Nigerians, the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, has held a strategic closed-door meeting with the leadership of select electricity distribution companies over the proposed Energy Zones, designed to deliver stable, 24-hour power supply to homes, businesses, and industries in the country’s highest-demand areas, namely Lagos axis, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano, and Enugu-Port-Harcourt,” the statement stated.

The effort is meant to assure that the national commercial electricity, and that electricity.

The Electricity of the electricity of the electricity of the electricity of the electricity of the electricity of the distribution businesses.

According to the statement, the minister stated, “The constraint on the sector is not limited to generation and transmission but includes how much power is taken up and delivered at the distribution end.”

He said that the new Energy Zones will boost distribution companies’ income and collection performance, help close the gap, and open up commercial and industrial demand.
The minister also reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to building more electrical infrastructure in high-demand locations, emphasising that supply capacity must increase to meet Nigeria’s growing economic demands.

It is anticipated that the suggested zones will concentrate on areas where enterprises, manufacturing, and other economic activities depend on dependable electricity. The announcement did not, however, include a schedule for implementation, the zones’ suggested capacity, or the precise infrastructure investments needed to provide a 24-hour supply.

The engagement, according to the statement, constitutes part of Tegbe’s resolve upon assuming office to pursue a systematic and measured approach to tackling the sector’s longstanding challenges.

Additionally, it is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which highlights the importance of a steady supply of power for industrialisation, economic expansion, and job creation.

Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, Ikeja Electric, Eko Power, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, and Sahara Energy Group were among the energy companies and distribution businesses participating at the meeting.
The proposed Energy Zones coincide with ongoing worries about the dependability of the electricity supply and the capacity of distribution firms to provide users with accessible power.
