The tragic incident occurred on Sunday, July 5, 2026, though the exact cause of the disagreement remains unknown.

According to the spokesperson for the Cross River State Police Command, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, the suspect, 42-year-old Micheal Ndifon, allegedly stabbed Eze in the right side of his rib with a dagger during the altercation.

The incident was reported to the Ikom Police Division by the Chairman of the community Task Force, Ndifon Nkang, and the Youth Leader, Felix Agbor.

The victim was initially taken to Holy Family Hospital in Ikom before being referred to the Ebonyi State Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki, where he later died while receiving treatment.

Police have confirmed the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the alleged murder weapon. The deceased’s body has been deposited in the hospital mortuary for an autopsy, while the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
