The union has threatened to initiate a three-day nationwide warning strike if their demands are not addressed by July 29.

In a letter directed to the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, NANNM accused the hospital management of undermining union officials, neglecting to implement a previously agreed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and fostering industrial discord. The demands from the union include the reinstatement of the suspended unit chairman, reversal of the alleged demotion of three nursing staff members, adherence to the MoU, and an inquiry into reported anti-union practices.

NANNM highlighted that the suspension of their unit chairman occurred after he facilitated temporary accommodation for nursing students on clinical postings who were left without housing. According to the union, such humanitarian efforts should have been recognized positively rather than punished. Furthermore, they raised concerns that the hospital’s Medical Director has not fulfilled commitments made following a previous industrial dispute, despite government mediation.

The union has reiterated its dedication to a dialogue with the government but has firmly stated that the failure to meet its demands within the allotted 15 days will compel them to proceed with the nationwide warning strike.
