According to reports, the deceased perished over the weekend while returning from their farm when the boat they were riding in overturned due to choppy waters.
Mr. Anthony Ikwulono, a former vice chairman of the Agatu Local Government, verified the occurrence and stated that “the victims were children of the same parents.” They’ve already been laid to rest.
Ameh, a local farmer, clarified that he had brought six of his kids to his farm in order to pick crops. Strong waves caused the little boat that was transporting us with a heavy load to capsize on the way back home. Unfortunately, five of the youngsters did not survive despite the efforts of local divers to save them. “The entire Obagaji community is in mourning as a result of this tragic incident,” he stated.
According to Agatu LGA Chairman Melvin James, five children were killed when the boat collapsed, killing seven individuals on board. The canoe capsized while the guy and six of his kids were returning from their visit to the farm.
The father and one child survived, despite the fact that the canoe was overcrowded, which may have played a role in the mishap. At the time, their mother wasn’t present. This is depressing. “I offer the family my condolences,” he said.
