More than two weeks into the Middle East conflict, local media claimed on Sunday that Iranian authorities had detained at least 20 people in the country’s northwest on suspicion of collaborating with Israel.

According to the Fars news agency, which quoted provincial prosecutor Hossein Majidi, the arrests occurred during operations on networks connected to Israel in the province of West Azerbaijan.
After it was discovered that they were “sending details of military, law enforcement, and security locations to the Zionist enemy,” “twenty people were arrested and detained.”

According to local media, authorities have conducted extensive raids throughout Iran, detaining hundreds of individuals suspected of collaborating with Israel and the US in recent days.

Iranian response followed US-Israeli strikes that murdered Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s top leader, on February 28.
