Through fostering academic collaboration in a range of areas, including as research, teaching, and cultural exchange, this project seeks to benefit both institutions.
During the China-Africa Higher Education Dialogue and the First Exchange Mechanism Conference of the China-Africa Consortium of Universities, the vice-chancellors of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole, SAN, and his counterpart from the North-China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, in Zhengzhou, Henan, China, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of their respective institutions.
From September 5–7, 2024, the Conference—co-hosted by the Association of African Universities and the China Association of Higher Education—took place at the Beijing International Conference Center in Beijing, China.
One of the 100 African universities chosen to take part in this program, which aims to improve knowledge exchange and strengthen academic connections between Chinese and African universities, is the University of Ilorin.
Joint research projects, staff and student exchanges, and other academic initiatives that benefit both universities will result from the partnership.
During the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, Egbewole gave a speech in which she discussed the value of cross-cultural academic engagement in the modern, globalized world and expressed confidence about the partnership.
The Vice Chancellor affirmed UNILORIN’s commitment to maintaining and honoring the connection in every respectable manner while acknowledging the possibility for both institutions to use their strengths in research and education to address global concerns, particularly in the water resources and electric power industries.
