The 21-year-old, who clearly has not accomplished her omission from the women’s 100m in her strides, stated that in order to accomplish her Olympic aspirations, she had to confront mental challenges. She further stated that her regrettable experience taught her how strong she was.

“Competing in the Olympics has been a lifetime dream. Ofili, who finished sixth in the 200m final, said, “The outcome of this Olympic wasn’t what I hoped for—having to fight with myself every day to be strong mentally even when my body and health were at stake due to the challenges I faced.”

Ofili was one of the few Nigerian athletes who could finish on the podium. As she remained in the top three overall for both the preliminary and the semi-final rounds, only to finish sixth in her first-time Olympic-final debut, she seemed destined for the 200m.

Her exclusion from the 100m event ruined her campaign and dented Nigeria’s outing, because neither the National Olympic Committee of Nigeria nor the Athletics Federation of Nigeria would take responsibility for the global humiliation.

She was not discovered until a few days before the 100 m event that Nigeria had failed to register her in time, which prevented her from competing.

In the 4×100 m relay, Ofili accomplished a remarkable performance for 200 m and contributed to her team’s season-best time of 42.70s, with Ofili clocking 10.09s split.
