“The innovative online platform is designed to simplify the non-tax payment process for Lagos residents and corporate entities, making it more efficient, convenient, and secure overall,” stated Ogungbo.
“The proposed LRP launch is consistent with the governor’s T.H.E.M.E.S. agenda and his ongoing efforts to enhance Lagosians’ quality of life.”
Ogungbo claims that the cutting-edge online platform is made to make it easier for corporate entities and the people of Lagos to fulfill their civic obligations through non-tax payments, increasing the process’s effectiveness, convenience, and security.
“As previously stated for all tax payments handled by the LIRS using the e-Tax platform,. Another significant achievement under our governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is LRP.
“The LRP, which Mr. Governor plans to introduce on Thursday, August 15, 2024, is a major step in the direction of modernizing our revenue collection system.”
In the meantime, he insisted that the state’s collection procedures will be streamlined by cutting-edge technology into a more user-friendly and accessible self-service portal for all Lagos residents.
Ogungbo claims that the LRP serves as a one-stop shop for all taxpayers by combining all of the bills and payments from the state’s ministries, departments, and organizations.
He went on to say that Lagosians may handle, print, and pay their bills online in a variety of ways thanks to the portal.
According to Ogungbo, this saves taxpayers time and hassle by removing the requirement for in-person trips to Lagos State service stations and bank branches.
The governor’s office claims that the site guarantees smooth and safe payment processing, ensuring the efficiency and safety of transactions.
In the meantime, he continued, any payer using the portal gets an instant revenue receipt following a successful payment and can easily verify these receipts to prevent money from going into the wrong hands.
“In addition, the portal makes payer registration simple. Individuals and companies can now register as payers and view their profiles online, streamlining the registration process in its entirety,” said Ogungbo.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the LRP permits payers to request amendments or reversals of their payments, thereby minimizing errors and disagreements among payers, banks, and MDAs throughout the transaction value chain.
“Another useful feature of the portal is a comprehensive view of payments and receipts,” he continued. Easy access to records is made possible for users by the ability to view and download their receipts and payment history (remittance statement).
“LRP can be accessed through mobile applications and secure websites. This will make the site even more convenient by enabling taxpayers to use it while on the go. Scalability, resilience, secrecy, and data integrity are all made possible by the portal’s seamless connections with both present and emerging technologies—all without jeopardizing data privacy laws.
“By offering a user-friendly, effective, and secure platform, the government hopes to increase compliance, promote transparency, ensure efficient service delivery, and grow revenue for developmental projects. The LRP is a significant step towards modernizing revenue collection and administration in Lagos State.”
Ogungbo states that changes to the portal are anticipated to have an effect on the state’s revenue administration system.
“We are dedicated to consistently enhancing LRP to fulfill the requirements of our residents and companies in Lagos State,” he continued.
