Due to the case file’s unavailability, Monday’s proceedings before Justice A.M. Lawal of the Lagos High Court, Ikeja, were halted for the second time in six weeks.

After the file was allegedly not brought back to court, the case was postponed. A similar circumstance arose on May 8, 2026, when the file was inaccessible and the case could not move further.

According to OTL, the file was taken from the Ikeja Judicial Division to Lagos over two months ago in order to execute a warrant, and it hasn’t been returned.  On both occasions, the claimants’ solicitors were not present in court.

OTL described the situation as concerning, stating that the file’s persistent disappearance had essentially halted proceedings and raised concerns about accountability in the management of court documents.

In the midst of the delays, the corporation revealed that it had filed and served an application for stay of execution at the Court of Appeal, attempting to prevent the judgement from being enforced until the outcome of its appeal against the 2022 ruling in Suit No. LD/1539/2012.
OTL said that despite the judgment’s current appeal, actions were being done to enforce it, which made the application necessary.

The business further argued that the properties in question had previously been the focus of an execution warrant resulting from a different ruling rendered in 2018 by Justice Adedayo Oyebanji in Suit No. LD/794/2011.
