Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, announced the arrest on Friday using his official X (Twitter).

According to Wahab, the culprit, Mrs. Kehinde Raji, was caught when the Chairman of the Elubo Sellers Association alerted authorities to the market’s risky food adulteration practices.

The commissioner claimed that the suspect was creating tainted elubo by combining dangerous coloring chemicals with rotten yam flour, which was subsequently offered for sale to unwary customers.

He stated, “The Chairman of the Elubo Sellers Association provided us with reliable information this morning about risky food adulteration procedures in the market. According to the report, some dishonest vendors were combining dangerous coloring agents with spoiled yam flour to create tainted “Elubo Isu” for gullible customers.

Following an instant raid, our KAI enforcement team apprehended Mrs. Kehinde Raji, who was found to be involved in this illegal business. We applaud the market leaders for alerting us to this important public health concern.

According to preliminary reports, a number of consumers have already experienced health issues as a result of consuming this tainted food.
