Wizkid, a legendary musician from Nigeria, has ignited yet another controversy with a string of scathing social media tweets in which he seems to have mocked fellow artist Davido’s self-proclaimed status of “001.”

Wizkid stated, “The only time you’re 001 is when you’re in your house,” in a post published on X on Wednesday. You have more than 001 Instagram followers, after all!

“Naija is a place the rich weaponize poverty so u carry all these broke boys in real life and get them visas so they worship u,” the Afrobeats heavyweight said, taking a jab at Davido’s entourage. The singer was accused of surrounding himself with people who were financially dependent.

On Wednesday, Wizkid—real name Ayodeji Balogun—also seemed to make fun of Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State and persona known as the “Dancing Governor,” remarking, “When u see people wey dem papa and family train, u go know!” My uncle isn’t dancing online, do you see?
Many people see this remark as a swipe at Adeleke, who is well-known for his flamboyant dance moves that are frequently posted on social media.

Not content to stop there, Wizkid addressed rumors that Davido was paid more by Puma, a well-known international company, than by him.

“No! Although Puma is a well-known brand, I wasn’t interested in their budget for Africa! Was cool for your client tho!” He penned.

He continued, explaining that he had declined Puma’s offer: “I declined Puma because they could no longer afford to pay me because I wanted more! Not requiring that! Much more significant than each artist you just cited!

First off, you can’t afford me fool! Wizkid shot out in a furious reply to Nelson Epega, founder and CEO of Chatter, a social audio-visual platform, who had criticized him. You are dealing with the most suitable individual for your budget!”

Prior to this, Epega had praised Davido’s success and declared that his company would never do business with Wizkid, calling him a “uncontrollable psychopath”.

Davido’s musical and personal skills were ridiculed by Wizkid in a different post, where he said, “You’re not as fly as me, can’t sing or make music like me, u don’t make more money than me.”

He also made fun of Davido’s group, calling his lawyer “a dumb ass” and Davido’s group “broke” for being around him all the time.

Social media uproar has been sparked by the furious conversation, which has revived the long-standing rivalry between the two Afrobeats musicians.
