Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, the agency’s commander, confirmed the convictions to reporters on Thursday, calling the achievement a significant win in the agency’s war against illegal drug abuse and trafficking.

“Among the 22 drug dealers found guilty, one Abubakar Mu’azu’s arrest led to an altercation in which he stabbed an NDLEA officer,” stated Idris-Ahmad.

“Mu’azu was charged in court and given a sentence of three years in a correctional facility; the other defendants received sentences ranging from one to several years in jail.

“A variety of illegal substances were discovered in Mu’azu’s possession.”
The command will keep up the battle against drug trafficking and abuse and bring legal action against those responsible, according to the drugs commander.

Idris-Ahmad praised retired Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Buba-Marwa, the agency’s chairman and chief executive officer, for his steadfast support and dedication to the battle against drug abuse.No amount of violence or intimidation, in his opinion, could stop the agency’s agents from hunting down and apprehending offenders.

“Those who commit drug-related offenses will face the full wrath of the law because our operatives are trained professionals who will stop at nothing to ensure that,” the speaker declared.

The commander asked for the public’s assistance in order to fulfill its mandate of purging the state of drug users. They were asked to maintain their vigilance and notify the agency of any suspicious activity pertaining to drug misuse or trafficking so that it may take immediate action.
