Today, July 8, the House of Representatives entered a boisterous session when Hon. Mascot Ikwechegh moved to summon President Tinubu due to “poor implementation of the budget and delays in the release of funds to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).”
Concerns about the speed at which the budget is being implemented and the effects of financing delays on government operations were the focus of the motion.
‘’Agencies are not being funded. Our people are k!dnapped every day. Heads are being chopped off on national television every day. We want to invite the President of Nigeria as our father, to come and explain to us why we are spending trillions of Naira doing coastal roads, yet Nigerians are dying” he said
A violent argument broke out during the motion’s presentation to the house, with those opposed to it requesting that Ikwechegh and others who supported it take a seat.
A protracted argument that lasted around thirty minutes resulted from the heated exchanges that interfered with the proceedings.
Speaker of the House Hon. Tajudeen Abbas overruled the motion at the conclusion of the discussion.
Abbas described it as a departure from the authorized wording, explaining that the prayers in the motion as read on the floor were different from those in the paper that the sponsor had first filed.
