Sanwo-Olu delivered the congratulatory message in a statement released on Friday after Hamzat secured victory in the APC direct primary election held across Lagos State on Thursday.
The governor described Hamzat’s emergence as a clear sign of the trust and confidence party members and residents of the state have in his leadership abilities.
He also commended APC members for maintaining peace, unity and discipline throughout the primary election process.
“On behalf of my family, I congratulate Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat on emerging as the flagbearer of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, for the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
He added that he believes Hamzat’s vision and leadership would contribute positively to the continued growth and development of Lagos State.
Sanwo-Olu also noted that the large turnout of party supporters during the primary election reflected strong support for Hamzat and confidence in his ability to continue the achievements of the current administration.
The governor further urged APC members to remain united and committed as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“There is still a lot of work ahead for us as a party, and I encourage all members to stay united and dedicated to the progress of Lagos State and the success of our great party,” he added.
Hamzat’s victory officially positions him as the APC candidate expected to contest the governorship election and potentially succeed Sanwo-Olu in 2027.
