Justice Peter Lifu upheld a N20 million punishment against the attorney who started the lawsuit, Johnmary Jideobi, in a ruling on Tuesday.

In addition, he imposed a fine of one million dollars against the plaintiff and in favor of the Federation’s Attorney General.

Additionally, Justice Lifu ruled that the attorney had no legal basis to file the lawsuit because he had not been harmed by his belief that Jonathan intended to run in the election the next year.

The judge stated that he was obligated to follow the ruling of the appellate court after a Federal High Court in Yenagoa and an Appeal Court had previously determined that Jonathan was qualified to run.

He dismissed the lawyer’s lawsuit as frivolous and referred to it as “an abuse of court process.”
