Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, has said he would serve only one term of four years if elected president, stressing that he would not extend his stay in office under any circumstance.
In a clip from an interview set to air on News Central TV on Thursday, Obi declared that his commitment to a single term is tied to his belief in stability and governance discipline.

“I want to be a one-term president because of stability. I would not stay a day, with a gun to my head, longer than four years,” he said in the trending video.
He also criticised the current administration’s economic direction, pointing to rising living costs and increased borrowing, and said Nigeria is going through one of its most challenging economic periods.

Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party, finished third behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the PDP.
Since the election, he has remained a prominent opposition voice, consistently faulting the Tinubu administration’s economic policies.
