Reality TV star Tope Adenibuyan, better known as Teddy A, has opened up about a dark chapter in his marriage when false allegations that he abused his wife, actress and media personality Bamike “Bambam” Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, also known as ‘Achalugo’, spread across social media and threatened to tear their family apart.

Speaking on the WithChude podcast, Teddy A described the claims as “false, shocking, and deeply distressing” for both him and Bambam. At the time, some posts accused him of domestic violence, even during Bambam’s pregnancy, a story he insists was completely untrue.

“I woke up, went downstairs, and my wife was there watching a movie. She was pregnant and laughing,” Teddy A recalled. It wasn’t until he saw his phone blowing up with notifications that he realized something was wrong. “I hadn’t posted anything. I was wondering what was trending and why my phone was blowing up,” he said.

Reading the online comments, Teddy A saw Bambam grow emotional and confused. “She kept asking who could do this to us. Honestly, I didn’t know where it came from,” he said.

The former Big Brother Naija housemate said the experience taught him how staying silent can backfire. “Even now, when my wife and I post photos or videos, people still comment and ask if I beat her,” he admitted.

“It was painful because people began to see me in a way that wasn’t true,” he added, reflecting on how the allegations affected his public image.

Teddy A’s story has sparked renewed conversations about the long-lasting impact of false claims, the speed at which social media narratives spread, and the importance of confronting misinformation quickly. To this day, neither Teddy A nor Bambam has confirmed any incident of domestic abuse, and the couple continues to maintain a united front publicly.
