Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has reportedly been taken into police custody following a cyberbullying complaint linked to fellow actress Mercy Johnson.

According to reports, Okorie was arrested at her Lagos residence on Tuesday, January 27, by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre, Abuja.

The arrest was disclosed on Wednesday by entertainment journalist and founder of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, who shared details of the development on social media.

Oloketuyi said Okorie spent the night at the Yaba (Panti) Police Station before being flown to Abuja early Wednesday to face legal proceedings connected to the alleged cybercrime matter.

“Angela Okorie was arrested at her Lagos residence by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre, Abuja,” Oloketuyi wrote. “She was placed on a 6 a.m. flight to Abuja to face court proceedings involving Mercy Johnson.”

As of the time of this report, Okorie and her representatives have not issued a public response. The Nigeria Police Force has also not released an official statement.

The reported arrest comes about a week after Mercy Johnson publicly stated that cyberbullying directed at her and her family would no longer be tolerated in 2026.
