On Saturday night, Obele Theophilus, his wife, kids, and brother-in-law went to bed, but on Sunday morning, January 11, 2026, they did not wake up.
When the family’s door was still shut at ten in the morning, neighbors expressed increasing anxiety. When neighbors knocked repeatedly and got no response, they broke the door open and found the dead bodies.

The brother-in-law was discovered near the door, indicating that he might have attempted to open it, while the man and kids were discovered on the bed and the wife in the restroom.

The victims were intended to return to Port Harcourt following the holiday prior to the disaster, according to local reports.
