The stance was included in a statement released following the conclusion of the third session of the Diocese’s sixth synod, which took place in the Cathedral Church of St. Peter in Jebba from Friday, July 25 to Sunday, July 27, 2025.

The Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Revd. Oluwaseun Aderogba, presided over the synod, according to a press release that PUNCH Online was able to receive on Friday.

The Synod encouraged the Federal Government to put addressing poverty and insecurity ahead of political aspirations, even as it acknowledged the economic achievements of the current administration.

According to Aderogba, “the cost of living crisis is real and biting.”

At the state level, the Synod praised Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the governor of Kwara State, for his continuous development initiatives but demanded more inclusive policies, particularly for underserved and rural communities.

It called on the state to fix the dilapidated Shaare–Patigi Road and noted that the Elebu–Lanwa axis needed a better electrical supply.
Additionally, the Synod called on the Kwara State Government to step up efforts to combat the growing levels of insecurity in the state’s north and south.

The statement said, “The Synod urged for more inclusive attention to rural and underserved communities while also praising Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara state for ongoing development projects.”

It specifically demanded that the Shaare–Patigi Road be repaired immediately and that the Elebu–Lanwa axis receive better electricity.

The state government was also encouraged by the Diocese to step up efforts to combat the growing levels of insecurity in Kwara’s northern and southern districts.

During the Synod session, which had as its topic “Liberalism and Liberty: little things that matter,” the church’s theological and doctrinal problems were also discussed, but the necessity of responsive government to lessen the burden on the people was emphasized.
