In a statement released on Tuesday through her media assistant, Dr. Dike Bekwele, Mrs. Amaechi urged Wike to provide his version of the forensic audit report on the NDDC, which included indictments against her and her non-governmental organization, Empowerment Support Initiative.

In a Channels Television interview, Wike said that Mrs. Amaechi was getting N4 billion a month from the interventionist organization via her non-governmental organization.

In the interview, the FCT minister requested that President Bola Tinubu release the NDDC’s forensic audit report, threatening to resign as minister if his assertion was not included.

Mrs. Amaechi called Wike’s claim “false, wild, and unfounded” in a statement released on Tuesday.

In the statement, Wike was urged to release his version of the forensic audit findings.

Therefore, the statement read, “We challenge Mr. Wike to make public his version of the forensic audit report on the Niger Delta Development Commission, where Dame Judith Amaechi or the ESI were indicted.” If Wike is unable to provide the report, it is our belief that he will act on his boast and boldly resign as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, immediately and without reservation, the statement said.

Instead of participating in a media trial on a live national telecast, it requested that Wike wait for his prayers to be answered over the unpublished NDDC forensic audit findings.

Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, made a reckless and baseless accusation of corruption against Dame Judith Amaechi and the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) in a live television interview.

Nyesom Wike, in his usual fashion, accused Dame Amaechi and the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) of receiving N4 billion a month from the Niger Delta Development Commission, or NDDC, in one of his rather cyclical, hysterical, impoverished, and frequent live television appearances. This report has angered well-meaning Nigerians and prompted calls and inquiries regarding the accuracy of this story.

Since the minister’s tirade is merely extortion meant to damage Her Excellency’s and the ESI’s integrity and reputation, we would have disregarded it.

However, the statement said, “In the interest of right-thinking Nigerian citizens, it is imperative to state the obvious.”

It further stated that Wike made the accusations out of pure vanity and without any sense of decency, disregarding the accuracy of the facts, in an attempt to achieve low-cost political objectives. In dispelling these lies and for the sake of documentation, we would like to declare the following to be untrue:

“The accusation Mr. Wike made against Dame Amaechi and the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) has not the slightest bit of truth to it.

“The Niger Delta Development Commission, or NDDC, has never given Dame Amaechi N4 billion.

“With a memorandum of understanding with development partners, including the interventionist agency, the NDDC, the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) has established partnerships and collaborations since being duly incorporated as a non-governmental organization with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2011.”

It stated that the NDDC and ESI had a reciprocal cooperation to mutually fund training and human capacity initiatives for the hordes of women and youth.

To the pleasure of both the NDDC and the ESI, this cooperation has been carried out successfully since its inception, and many women and youth in the Niger Delta region have benefited from the program for sustainability and self-reliance.

“The counterpart funding between the ESI and the NDDC is under public scrutiny, in stark contrast to the misinformation that Mr. Nyesom Wike created and disseminated.” Wike’s claims that Dame Judith Amaechi or the Empowerment Support Initiative were implicated in the NDDC forensic audit report—which hasn’t been made public in Nigeria—will be absurd.

It stated, “It is a complete fabrication of Mr. Wike’s imagination, and it is also ludicrous and unfounded.”

The message counseled Wike to refrain from damaging the nation’s reputation.

It further stated, “His impolite and uncultured demeanor can undermine and undermarket the country’s efforts to draw in foreign investors.”
