Chioma Emuka, the prosecution’s attorney, claims that Eke took advantage of the woman who became conscious while he was still inside her while she was disoriented.
“The pastor told the 25-year-old woman that his semen is holy enough to deliver her of the marine spirit that was disturbing her,” Emuka stated in response to her question about why he had to rape her.

Justice Nzeukwu declared at the verdict that Eke was guilty of the offenses that were brought up against him.

The court found Eke guilty on count two of the charges of raping the woman and violating her trust, but she dismissed the third count, which involved the possibility of causing harm to the victim during the rape.

Justice Nzeukwu held, “There was no way injuries could result since there was no resistance since the woman was not completely conscious during the incident.”

The defense attorney begged the judge to exercise mercy in addition to justice, pointing out that his client had behaved well and had appeared in court every day of the trial without violating any of the bail requirements.

He begged that his client be placed on probation rather than receiving a harsh penalty.
According to NAIJA STREET MATTERS, this is the state’s first prosecution under the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act.

Onurube, a civil society organization, reported on the issue and saw it through to the conclusion.
Marjorie Ezihe, the convener of Onurube, praised the court’s decision to find the pastor guilty during her remarks on the matter.
She thought that the conviction would discourage others from engaging in such barbaric behavior as trying to have sex with women without getting their permission.
