Pedro informed the court on Tuesday that all respondents had received the earlier court order in accordance with the pre-action procedures for pre-emptive reliefs requested by the AG against the protesters’ representatives. Pedro was represented in court by Mr. Hameed Oyenuga, Director for Civil Litigations.
He maintained that even if the suit’s respondents have not yet replied to the application, the earlier protest restriction order needs to be extended to two locations in order for the state to maintain the relative calm that is being felt in spite of the continuous protests taking place all over the nation.

Adamma Ukpabi and Tosin Harsogba (Active Citizens Group); Comrade Juwon Sanyaolu and Hassan Soweto (Take It Back Movement); people unknown; and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police are named in the application as co-defendants.

In submitting his application to the court, Mr. Pedro contended that, in his capacity as the state’s chief law officer and having received notices from various parties supporting and opposing the nationwide protest, it is imperative to safeguard the state’s vital infrastructures and avert the irreversible loss of life and property, as was the case with the 2020 EndSARS protest.
