The choice was made in response to the death of Olaoye Fabiyi, a final-year student, on Wednesday, who was purportedly killed by cult members.

Fabiyi was pulled out of the exam room by three unidentified males while he was preparing his final papers, according to a PUNCH Online story on Wednesday.

The armed guys pulled him to a corner, where they opened fire and struck him in the head with a brick, according to a witness to the incident.

It is said that the attackers made sure he passed away before they left the area.

On Wednesday, Bethel Olorunfunmi, the acting president of the Students’ Union, also verified the victim’s death. She said that the medical team at an undisclosed general hospital had made futile attempts to save him.

The school’s deputy registrar, Babatunde Odugbesan, announced in a statement on Thursday that all exams held on campus have been put on indefinite hold.

In the release, it was said that “all examinations originally scheduled for Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5, 2024, have been suspended until further notice by the university management.”While inquiries are conducted to determine the cause of the cultist attack on a student on campus, students are reassured of their safety and encouraged to maintain composure.

Omolola Odutola, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, revealed on Wednesday that the command had started an inquiry and conducted raids on locations thought to be used by cultists as hideouts.

According to Odutola, every attempt is being made to capture each individual in the group accountable for the act.

“Our cops arrived at the location of the event right away. Our detectives searched and raided every potential hiding place for the suspects, including those belonging to other local divisions.

Odutola declared, “Every effort is being made to ensure that all the perpetrators are apprehended.”
