Tuesday night in Glasgow, the Three Lions overcame Scotland 3-1 with to goals from Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham, and Harry Kane.
The 30-year-old defender scored his team’s goal in the 67th minute after coming off the bench as a replacement after the first half.
Kane scored the game’s winning goal in the 81st minute following an outstanding performance by Real Madrid midfielder Bellingham.
Following the own goal, the under-fire defender faced a barrage of vitriol from both stadium spectators.

‘Negative and nasty comments’ made against her son were addressed by Zoe Maguire in a post on her Instagram story.

She wrote, “As a mum seeing the level of negative and abusive comments in which my son is receiving from some fans, pundits and the media is disgraceful and totally unacceptable to any walk of life never mind someone who works his socks off for club and country.

“I was there in the stand as usual; what’s been generated over nothing is unacceptable. I am aware that there are highs and lows, as well as pros and downsides, in the world of sports, but what Harry receives goes much beyond “football.”

“For me, it is not acceptable to watch him suffer through what he is going through. Particularly the young boys and girls who are currently rising through the ranks, I would hate to have to witness any other parents or athletes going through this in the future.

Harry has a big heart, and it’s fortunate that he’s mentally tough and can manage it because others might not be. I wouldn’t want this kind of treatment on anyone.

After his subpar performances for both club and country, Maguire has received a lot of criticism and hostility.

Gareth Southgate, the manager of England, has denounced the insulting remarks.
