The Federal High Court in Abuja has given two-year prison terms to Victor Briggs and Abiye Membere, two former senior NNPC officials.

On February 8, 2023, Justice Nnamdi Digmba sentenced them after finding them responsible for “unethically collecting car presents as public officials,” a crime that violates Section 98 of the Criminal Code Act.

Justice Dimgba sentenced the convicts to two years imprisonment with an option of N2million fine each, to be paid immediately to the Federal government.

The EFCC brought charges against the prisoners for conspiring to get the NPDC to help Olajide Omokore, Atlantic Energy Brass Development Limited, and Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept Limited hoist crude, as well as for accepting cars as presents from Omokore and his businesses.
