In a statement signed by Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s permanent secretary, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, made the announcement on behalf of the federal government on Wednesday.

Tunji-Ojo asked Nigerians to use the event to show solidarity, patriotism, peaceful coexistence, and respect for one another. He also congratulated Nigerians both domestically and internationally on the anniversary. He urged Nigerians to love their country as much as the country’s founding fathers did, stating that peace and stability were essential to the country’s progress.

“As we commemorate the 66th anniversary of our independence, we should never forget that there is hope for our country, that our diversity is our strength, and that our collective determination remains the foundation upon which a stronger and more prosperous nation will be built,” he stated.

The minister gave Nigerians the assurance that the Federal Government was still dedicated to enhancing public safety, bolstering national security, and fostering an atmosphere in which people may live, work, and confidently pursue their justifiable goals.

Additionally, he stated that the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda would keep working to improve Nigeria for all of its residents. Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to use the occasion to reaffirm their dedication to peaceful coexistence and national unity.
