The announcement came on Thursday when Los Blancos confirmed that Diomande would be contracted with the club until June 30, 2033. This high-profile signing was a competitive endeavor, with Real Madrid successfully outbidding Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, both of whom expressed interest in the talented young player. PSG withdrew from negotiations due to concerns about the transfer fee, while Liverpool had a prior bid rejected in June.

Diomande made a mark in the Bundesliga during the 2025 season after transferring from Spanish club Leganes, where he was named the Bundesliga Young Player of the Season after scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists. The acquisition of Diomande marks Real Madrid’s sixth preseason signing, joining players such as Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, and Carlos Espi. This influx of talent comes as part of a larger strategy to refresh the squad, a necessity following two seasons without a major trophy.

Additionally, under the guidance of newly appointed coach José Mourinho, who returned to the club after replacing Álvaro Arbeloa, Real Madrid is actively working to strengthen its roster. There are ongoing speculations regarding a possible move for Manchester City midfielder Rodri, indicating that the club continues to seek further bolstering of their lineup.
