Initially claiming that $500 was missing from her belongings, Okoronkwo later corrected herself, stating that the actual amount was $700. She also reported that several other team members were similarly affected: teammate Halimatu Ayinde had $100 stolen, Asisat Oshoala lost another $100, and Joy Omewa experienced a theft of £120. Okoronkwo mentioned an additional unspecified amount taken from another player.

Upon confronting hotel staff regarding the missing funds, the players reportedly received vague responses and disrespectful treatment from the employees. Okoronkwo expressed frustration over the lack of concern from the front desk staff and concluded her posts by warning potential hotel guests about her negative experience, describing it as poor service compounded by theft by hotel staff.
