The dissatisfied aspirants are contesting the results of the primaries as well as the candidate list submitted by the APC to INEC.

Reportedly, these aspirants, who have enlisted the legal services of Remi Olatubora, SAN, include notable figures such as Gbenga Elegbeleye (Ondo North Senatorial District), Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti (Ondo Central Senatorial District), Leke Akingboye (Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency), Rasaq Obe (Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency), Kayode Ijalana (Owo/Ose Federal Constituency), Oyerinmade Matthew (Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency), and Olumuyiwa Daramola (Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency).

The legal disputes surrounding these primaries have sparked concerns among certain party stakeholders, worried about potential impacts on the APC’s preparations for the upcoming 2027 general elections. A party chieftain mentioned that the national leadership is closely observing these developments and advised members to resolve disputes within party structures to maintain unity. Disagreements regarding primary elections are noted to be common in political parties, which emphasizes the importance of internal resolution strategies.

In a related situation in Benue State, an additional group of APC aspirants loyal to Governor Hyacinth Alia has also sought recourse through the Federal High Court in Abuja concerning their National Assembly primaries. Justice I.E. Ekwo, while hearing the relevant case, issued a directive to maintain the status quo until the matters are determined, highlighting that the plaintiffs are challenging attempts to modify the candidate lists finalized during the monitored primaries by INEC. The court has restricted the APC from substituting these candidates until the resolution of the substantive suit, ensuring that the existing arrangements remain in effect.
