The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, Mr. Olufemi Dare, released a statement on Sunday announcing the restriction, which goes into force this week.
According to Dare, the decision was made to prevent abuse and degradation of the recently built road.
He clarified that the actions were required to protect the route and guarantee its long-term viability.

Additionally, the Federal Controller issued a warning that trucks and articulated vehicles would no longer be permitted to park indiscriminately.

He claims that all bridges in Lagos State as well as the coastline highway are subject to the ban.

Additionally, the ministry forbids the careless placement of trash along highway corridors, calling the practice intolerable.

Dare cautioned that as authorities work to keep the peace, criminals will be subject to severe enforcement measures.

He revealed that the highway was already lined with signs announcing the limitations.

To guarantee compliance, task force representatives would be stationed in key areas, Dare continued.

According to him, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is a “world-class infrastructure” that has to be properly maintained and safeguarded.

For the sake of public safety, the official advised all drivers to abide by the instructions.

He emphasized that keeping the facility intact would prolong its life and preserve its worth to Nigerians.
