The controversy emerged during Sunday’s high-profile Istanbul derby, where Galatasaray were already 1-0 ahead at half-time.
In a series of posts on X, the club voiced frustration over officiating decisions, claiming they were denied two clear penalty calls.
“Despite the refereeing, we are still ahead 1-0. We understand what is happening and the intentions behind it. This situation cannot continue,” the club stated.
The remarks quickly drew attention, given the intensity of the rivalry between both sides, which often carries major implications for the league title.
Galatasaray went on to dominate the second half, securing a comprehensive 3-0 win that extended their lead to seven points ahead of Fenerbahçe with just three matches left.
On the field, Victor Osimhen opened the scoring, while Barış Alper Yılmaz and Lucas Torreira added further goals to seal the result.
Fenerbahçe’s difficulties were compounded after they missed a penalty in the first half and were later reduced to 10 men when referee Yasin Kol issued a red card to their goalkeeper.
The situation highlights ongoing concerns about refereeing in Turkish football, where officiating decisions have repeatedly sparked debate.
