Isah, also called Abbati, a resident of Santana Street in Gombe’s Jekadafari neighborhood, was convicted of killing 58-year-old Aishatu Abdullahi, also known as Damori.
The mother of eight was reportedly killed on Friday, October 20, 2023.

Two days later, the suspect and an accomplice were taken into custody.

In his ruling on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the presiding judge, Justice Abdulhamid-Mohammed Yakubu, found that the prosecution had proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt and that the accused had purposefully caused the victim’s death.

“The evidence presented to this court unequivocally demonstrates that the defendant committed the capital crime of culpable homicide. The judge decided that the prosecution had properly met its legal burden of proof.

As a result, he gave the offender a death by hanging sentence in compliance with the law.

Court documents state that the criminal broke into the deceased’s home on October 20, 2023, at around 9:00 p.m.

According to what the court heard, he used a knife to attack the woman, causing serious injuries that ultimately resulted in her death.

Yakubu, while pronouncing the sentence, noted that the nature of the offence was grave and must be met with the full weight of the law to serve as a deterrent to others.

“We must defend the sanctity of human life. He continued, “Any act that unlawfully takes life must be dealt with decisively in accordance with the law.”
