Momodu made the comments on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, when he evaluated the changing political environment and the increasing unity of the opposition.
Since Atiku and Peter Obi collaborated in 2019, they already have a similar disposition, thus I would couple them. He remarked, “You don’t have to work too hard to maintain and attract the same group of people who love him because Peter Obi finished third in the last election.”
The former presidential candidate also took use of the occasion to criticize the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming that the party is under pressure despite President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s attempts to garner support from lawmakers, governors, and ministries.
He stated, “They (APC) cannot believe that we will have maybe four or five major opposition leaders in the country, and some people will go and set their houses on fire so that none of them will be strong enough to stand against the leader.”
“Let’s not deny it; it’s a fact. Momodu continued, “I keep saying it, Tinubu, you can see the obvious panic in the party today despite gathering all the governors, ministers, legislators, and what have you.”
He went on to accuse the ruling party of stifling dissent among its members, implying that they are afraid to voice their opinions.
Everyone remains silent wherever dictatorship is prevalent. I feel sorry for most of my friends who are members of APC. Sometimes they merely appear to be slaves; they complain behind the master but are afraid to speak up. Since they have made that decision for themselves, I pray for them and wish them well. He declared, “I am telling you that Nigeria needs to be saved.”
Additionally, Momodu accused the APC of meddling in political affairs and trying to thwart opposition efforts.
He declared that the APC was “blocking venues (for conventions), blocking courts,” calling it “insane.”
He claimed that these developments were unintentionally increasing the ADC’s appeal and visibility among Nigerians in spite of these worries.
Additionally, he disregarded concerns about internal splits within the opposition party, maintaining that the ADC will remain cohesive even as it gathers influential politicians in front of the 2027 elections.
