Popular Nigerian TikToker Peller has opened up about a difficult period in his life, revealing that actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele offered him support after he was arrested late last year.
Speaking at the Lagos premiere of the film Love Notes on Saturday, Peller said the actress played a role in helping him regain his freedom after he was detained in December 2025.
“She was the one who helped me when I was in prison,” he said during a brief exchange with Akindele at the event. “She helped my life.
Peller was arrested after being involved in a traffic incident in Lagos State that authorities described as a deliberate car accident. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) later ordered his arrest and prosecution on allegations of reckless driving.
Details of how long he was held were not publicly disclosed, and the case drew attention online at the time due to his growing social media profile.
The TikToker’s comments came as he greeted Akindele at the film premiere, where he took the opportunity to publicly thank her for standing by him during the episode.
Akindele, one of Nigeria’s most influential figures in film and television, has not spoken publicly about the matter. She is widely known for her work in the entertainment industry as well as her involvement in social causes.
