Former England footballer Raheem Sterling has been charged by Hampshire Police with multiple offenses, including dangerous driving and possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation, following a motorway accident that occurred in May.
According to a spokesperson from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, the charges also include failing to provide a specimen. Sterling, 31 years old and from Berkshire, is scheduled to appear in magistrates’ court on September 15 for his hearing.
The incident involved Sterling’s Lamborghini crashing into barriers on the M3 motorway, with no other vehicles involved and no reported injuries. Recently, Sterling played for Dutch club Feyenoord, having joined them on a short-term deal in February after leaving Chelsea through mutual consent. As of now, he remains without a club since the conclusion of last season.
