Last month, the 25-year-old, who had been on vacation in Tanzania, ended his trip early in order to continue recuperating from his injury in Seville prior to the upcoming season. He signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Andalusian team for €5.5 million during the January winter transfer window from French Ligue 1 team Montpellier. However, he was limited to just four La Liga appearances for the majority of the season due to injury and fitness issues.

The seven-time UEFA Europa League champions are giving Adams the chance to start again ahead of the new season, despite his lackluster start to life in Spain.

After returning from vacation, he has been receiving medical evaluations and physical therapy from the club’s rehabilitation staff before his teammates formally resume preseason activities.

Given their current financial situation, Sevilla is counting on the sale of Juanlu Sánchez to defending Serie A champions Napoli in order to sign four of their players, including Adams, Rubén Vargas, and this summer’s new additions, Alfon González and Gabriel Suazo.

The negotiations between Sevilla and Napoli for Juanlu Sánchez are expected to conclude this week, according to Spanish media outlet Estadio Deportivo. For weeks, the Montequinto full-back has been under a personal contract with the Italian team, awaiting a deal between the two parties to join with the Serie A winners until 2030.

As per the latest information, the deal is essentially finalized for a fixed sum of 17 million euros, plus variables or a percentage of a future sale that is currently being discussed between 10 and 20 percent, according to Diario de Sevilla. “In the meantime, the youth player continues to work with total professionalism, awaiting news, which could arrive very soon,” the outlet concluded.

On Saturday, July 26, at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Matías Almeyda’s team will play a preseason friendly match against Schalke 04, a German team, as they continue to refine their preparations for the season.

Isaac Romero and returning loanees Kelechi Iheanacho and Rafa Mir may compete with Adams for a starting spot at the start of the upcoming season.
