Ademola Adeleke, a candidate from the Accord Party and the current governor of Osun State, has been proclaimed the winner of the state’s governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Adeleke defeated his nearest opponent, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 444,815 votes, with 511,067 votes.
Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, the returning officer, declared the outcome on Sunday following the completion of collation throughout all 30 local government areas in the state.
With 17,180 votes, Najeem Salaam, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), came in third.
