Prior to the August 15 governorship election, Aregbesola revealed this information to supporters at an ADC event in Osun State’s Ejigbo Local Government Area.

Speaking in Yoruba, the former governor of Osun State stated that his fear of God and a self-promise motivated him to stay faithful to his wife.

He claimed that while seeking divine intervention for his political aspirations, he had used his faithfulness as a personal test.

“Oh Lord, my God, if you are the one I am serving, then I didn’t add anything else.” Only a select few men are capable of saying what I am about to say: Aregbesola remarked, “I never had any intimacy with another woman since I married my wife because of your fear.”

“I told God that we must do it at the government house next June,” he continued.

Currently serving as the national secretary of the ADC, which is running against the incumbent party in the upcoming governorship election, Aregbesola was Osun’s governor from 2010 until 2018.

The election for governor of Osun is set for Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Najeem Folasayo Salaam is the ADC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji is running for the All Progressives Congress, and Accord Party governor Ademola Adeleke is running for reelection.

As the election draws near, the ADC has stepped up its efforts throughout the state in an attempt to remove the current government.
