In an appearance on Channels Television’s “Sunrise Daily,” Momodu emphasized that the forthcoming 2027 presidential election would hinge on how Nigerians evaluate the performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He asserted that there is no personal animosity towards President Tinubu; rather, voters need convincing evidence that his administration has fulfilled its commitments.

Momodu remarked that the election could be favorable for Tinubu if he presents a solid record of his administration’s accomplishments, urging the APC to redirect its efforts from blaming past administrations to showcasing results. He criticized the APC for its continual focus on the failures of previous governments since assuming power in 2015, arguing that the party should be assessed by its actions taken to rectify the inherited economic struggles.

Momodu questioned, “If President Tinubu did inherit a poor government, what has he done to alter the situation and improve citizens’ lives?” He warned that the party’s narrative, which involves denigrating its predecessors, paints a negative picture of its governance. Furthermore, Momodu commented on the recent contentious remarks between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, insinuating that Obasanjo’s acknowledgment of Atiku as a political mistake reveals an enduring opposition to Atiku’s aspirations.

As the 2027 general election approaches, President Tinubu is anticipated to seek a second term, facing competition from key opposition figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Peter Obi.
