In order to promote access to education, Alkali also gave school uniforms to thirty pupils at Government Day Secondary School in Howai, Jalingo.

Tuesday marked the launch of the project, which is part of her Better Tomorrow Initiative, following a three-month literacy program called “Learning to Read” and a week-long baking, pastry, and confectionery training.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Alkali explained that the program’s goal was to provide women and young people with useful, earning skills that would improve their standard of living, encourage independence, and support community development.
She emphasised that empowering women has a cascading effect that strengthens families and communities, and that her dedication to creating a lasting influence outside of the classroom served as the inspiration for the project.

“Today marks not only the completion of a program, but also a celebration of hope, empowerment, and the future of the community,” said Alkali. She emphasized that empowering women strengthens families, transforms communities, and enhances the nation. Alkali encouraged beneficiaries to utilize their new skills for productive ventures and community mentoring. The initiative also included the donation of school uniforms to 30 students, supporting the education policy of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas by easing financial pressures on parents and promoting school attendance.

Acknowledging the role of sponsors, facilitators, volunteers, and community leaders, Alkali noted that the success of the Better Tomorrow Initiative should be gauged by its positive impact on lives. Mr. Ella Aji Williams, the NYSC Coordinator for Taraba State, praised Alkali for her community-centric project, which aligns with the NYSC Community Development Service goals. Represented by Mr. Sunday Wankari, Williams commended the peaceful environment provided by the Government Day Secondary School, Howai, and the Taraba State Government for enabling successful civic projects.

Mr. Lafal Clement, the NYSC Local Government Inspector, called the initiative a model of selfless service and encouraged corps members to undertake similar projects that cater to local community needs. Comrade Abubakar Sanusi, Principal of Government Day Secondary School, expressed gratitude for Alkali’s impactful contributions, which included renovating chalkboards, enhancing reading support, providing training, and donating uniforms, all significantly benefiting the students.
