The Society stressed the need to maintain accountability, transparency, and integrity within the nation’s cancer advocacy and patient support systems in a statement signed by its National Director of Publicity, Hon. Bashir Mohammed Ranccasu. The Society explained that the action was taken in response to growing public concern over the allegations.

The Society remembered that it had previously released a statement denouncing the alleged behavior, characterizing it as immoral and detrimental to Nigeria’s battle against cancer.

It stated that in order to protect the public interest and avoid a bad precedent, the nature of the accusations and their potential to undermine public trust required escalation to security services for a comprehensive investigation.

The NCS warns that any kind of exploitation damages the credibility of real patients and deters support for those in need, stating that cancer is still a life-threatening illness that requires sincerity, compassion, and appropriate treatment.

Blessing announced on social media a few weeks ago that she had stage four cancer. She said that she needed money for treatment after receiving a diagnosis of the illness in Enugu.

She received more than N12 million from well-meaning Nigerians after making a request for financial support. The original owner of the result she displayed has recently come forward to reveal how Blessing falsified her results in order to support her fraudulent claim that she had cancer, proving that she had lied about the claim.
