The question of Liam’s paternity, son of the late singer Mohbad, will soon be addressed through DNA tests approved in the United States and the United Kingdom, a Lagos State magistrate court has ruled.
Oladayo Ogungbe, Mohbad’s father, announced the decision after a court session in Ikorodu. The court authorized three laboratories: one in the U.S. and two in the U.K, for the tests. Each party will choose a lab, while an independent one selected by the court ensures fairness.
“The court has eventually picked three DNA laboratory centres, two in the United Kingdom and one in the United States. One from us, one from them, and the court picked an independent one,” Ogungbe said.
The tests come after Mohbad’s father requested a paternity confirmation following the singer’s death in September 2023, which remains shrouded in questions.
Sample collection is scheduled for April 7, 2026, and will be monitored by welfare officers to guarantee transparency.
The ruling represents a critical step in resolving a sensitive family and legal matter, offering clarity for Mohbad’s legacy and his young son’s future.
