Former Real Madrid striker Michael Owen has offered a mixed review of Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres, praising his relentless work rate and sharp finishing, while noting there are still areas for improvement.
Owen’s comments came after Gyokeres scored twice to help Arsenal thrash Tottenham 4-1 in the North London derby on Sunday. “I like this Viktor Gyokeres in so many aspects, but I think he’s got so many weaknesses as well,” Owen told Premier League Productions. “What you cannot question with this Gyokeres is his work rate. He is a fantastic runner and one of the very best finishers in the Premier League.”
Since joining Arsenal from Sporting Lisbon last year, Gyokeres has quickly become a key attacking figure. Arsenal now turn their attention to Chelsea this weekend, a match that could show whether Gyokeres can maintain his form and address the aspects of his game Owen highlighted.
