The AWAKE Campaign has launched a film-driven initiative in Nigeria aimed at increasing awareness of cervical cancer prevention and improving access to screening and HPV vaccination, especially for women in underserved communities.

Implemented in partnership with Sebeccly Cancer Care, the campaign blends storytelling with community outreach and medical education to turn awareness into real-world action. At the centre of the initiative is the AWAKE documentary, which features survivor stories alongside insights from medical experts and advocates working in cancer prevention.

Cervical cancer remains a major public health concern in Nigeria, where late diagnosis and limited access to preventive care continue to claim thousands of lives each year. Health experts consistently point to early screening and HPV vaccination as key to reducing avoidable deaths.

As part of the campaign, a Cervical Cancer Awareness Summit will be held on February 21, 2026, bringing together stakeholders from healthcare, policy, advocacy, and the creative sector. The summit will also premiere the AWAKE documentary and focus on practical solutions, partnerships, and long-term impact.

Beyond the summit, the AWAKE Campaign will continue its work through community outreach, film-based education, and digital engagement, while supporting access to screening and vaccination services. Organisers say the message is simple: cervical cancer is preventable, and no woman should die from a disease that can be detected early.
