Five alleged thugs and a well-known drug dealer have been taken into custody by the Kano State Police Command in Kano’s Jaoji Quarters.
Abdullahi Haruna, the command’s public relations officer, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Monday.
In its fight against drug trafficking and other related crimes in the state, the Kano State Police Command has achieved yet another noteworthy victory.
Five suspected thugs and Hafizu Ali, a 25-year-old suspected drug dealer from Jaoji Quarters Kano, were taken into custody during an operation by police personnel affiliated with Jaoji Police Division Kano. Dangerous weapons and many illegal substances were found, according to Haruna.
He said that all police commands and formations were instructed by Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Egbetokun to implement strategic crime prevention measures aimed at dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of residents. The operation was carried out on January 10 under the direction of state Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
According to Haruna, the suspected drug dealer was discovered in possession of a number of illegal substances, including 23 packages of suspected Cannabis sativa and 2,070 suspected Pregabalin capsules.
He said that an axe, two scissors, and four knives were found among the alleged thugs.
The Commissioner of Police thanked the good people of the state for their cooperation and support and praised the police for their devotion to duty.
After the investigations are over, the suspects will face charges in court, according to Haruna.
In a series of operations aimed at drug trafficking, armed robbery, and other crimes throughout the state, the Jigawa State Police Command earlier reported the arrest of ten individuals.
According to SP Shi’isu Adam, the state police public relations officer, the operation was conducted concurrently throughout the state.
