In May, 58-year-old Cedric Lodge entered a guilty plea to trafficking in stolen remains, including internal organs, brains, skin, hands, faces, and mutilated heads, between 2018 to at least March 2020.
According to Harvard, he was fired from the school in May 2023.
Before sending the body parts to buyers in other states, investigators claimed that Lodge and his wife, Denise, transported them “without the knowledge or permission of his employer, the donor, or the donor’s family” from the school near Boston to their home in Goffstown, New Hampshire, as well as locations in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
According to a statement from the Justice Department, Denise Lodge, 65, received a one-year jail sentence.
Wayne A. Jacobs, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Philadelphia field office, stated, “Today’s sentencing is another step forward in ensuring those who orchestrated and executed this heinous crime are brought to justice.”
Many of the human remains that Lodge sold were later resold at a profit, according to the Justice Department.
According to the statement, a number of those purchasers were either awaiting punishment or had already received jail sentences.
