Officers from the Ondo State Police Command’s Gender-Based Offenses Unit charged Etim, whose residential address was not provided, with one count of rape.
According to Supol Martins Olowofeso, the prosecuting attorney, the defendant committed the crime at Emiloro Street in Akure at around 6:00 a.m. in September 2025.
Oluwofeso claimed that without the victim’s consent, Etim had illegal carnal knowledge of the 15-year-old.
The prosecutor claims that the offense violated Section 3 (A&B) of the Ondo State of Nigería, 2021 Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law.
No plea was accepted from the defendant. The prosecution formally asked the court to put Etim in a detention facility while they awaited the Director of Public Prosecutions’ (DPP) recommendation.
The defendant’s attorney, Kehinde Osadugba, sought for a brief postponement so that his client may address the application from the prosecution.
To hear the remand application, Magistrate Taiwo Lebi postponed the case to October 23, 2025.
